Project 2

Project 2 was making t-shirts for a NGO run school, Vipla Foundation in New Delhi. We made 200 t-shirts for 75 children ranging in different sizes. The school is essentially for the marginalised and vulnerable children in the age group of 7-14 years, which aims to support school education and effectively minimize student attrition. The children and staff were overjoyed on receiving the t-shirts and feeling a sense of oneness and unity during their outdoor trips.

Also in the process of making the garment, we were able to teach a few women on operating the sewing machine in order for them to earn a livelihood in future.

Lessons Learnt

This project helped us practically understand the factors of production we had been exposed to in the classroom. We realised that resources such as capital and labour are limited and have to be effectively utilised as most of the fabrics we have earlier sourced had been used up in our earlier project.
